SWANA Scholarship
The TN VOLUNTEER CHAPTER of SWANA intends to give one Category I or Category IA award of $2,000 annually. Depending on the number and quality of applications, SWANA reserves the right to give more or fewer awards in this category and to adjust the number of awards in its other categories for current college students and graduate students.
SWANA student members, SWANA employees and their family members are not eligible to apply for Category IA Scholarships. Beyond those exceptions, SWANA pledges to uphold the policy that all persons shall have equal access to this program.
DEADLINES:
May 30 - All completed application forms and back-up documentation must be received by the Scholarship Chairperson for the Chapter in which your Sponsor is a member.
CRITERIA:
The TN Volunteer Chapter of SWANA scholarship committee evaluates Category IA Scholarship applications on the following basis:

Academics = 40% of your total score

Extracurricular Activities = 25% of your total score

Community Activities and Citizenship = 25% of your total score

Essay = 10% of your total score

Financial Need - not weighted
Submitting an application is not a guarantee of funding. The Scholarship Committee may disqualify an application for any of the following reasons.
• Applicant fails to meet the May 1 deadline for submitting the application to the Chapter
• Applicant will not be enrolled in classes in the coming semester
• Applicant does not provide all REQUIRED documentation identified above
• Application contains an essay or substantial parts of an essay written by another person
• Application is not legible
• Application is not signed by the applicant and Sponsor where indicated
